5/1/2016 Solo points event #1 results @ Lake Taghkanic posted

Results from our Solo/Autocross season opener are now posted in the results archive.

A cold/wet day did not stop 28 brave drivers from shaking off their winter seat rust on a short but fun course designed by Mark VanDeCarr. Russ Burckhard from MoHud was un-stoppable taking both FTD and #1 PAX, and his wife Tracey was only a few tenths slower. Thanks to everyone who braved the weather…..

10/25/2015 Solo points event #4 results @ Lake Taghkanic posted

Preliminary results from the 10/25/2015 Solo/autocross event have been posted to the results archive.

As event chairs, Jennifer and I would like to thank everyone who came out to participate at our Solo/autocross season finale. Everyone’s assistance with the setup and tear-down was greatly appreciated. Mark VanDeCarr designed a fast course, and managed to incorporate a course element that those of us who ran at PSCC’s events at Orange County remember seeing in every taxiway course design from 1997-2006 with that pin cone turn before the finish straight.

Although the autocross season has wrapped up, remember that we still have one more Rallycross scheduled in November before we put away the cones for the winter. Hope to see everyone there…..

9/27/2015 Rallycross #1 (fall) results posted

Results from the 9/27/2015 Rallycross #1 (fall) have been posted to the results archive.

The best way to describe the day was chamber of commerce weather, with sun, a slight breeze, and temperatures about 70. The lack of rain this year (except when PSCC schedules autocross events) showed toward the end of the day, with some dust being kicked up as cars ran. Everyone had 8 runs at the 75+ second course designed by Mark Long and crew, and were looking forward to the next Rallycross event (Smashing Pumpkins?) in November.

Apologies for the delays and re-runs during the start of the first heat. The start photoheads were slightly below grade, and their radio signal was spotty at the timer end in the trailer. Once we moved them a bit further up the hill, everything was fine for the rest of the day…

9/13/2015 Solo points event #3 results @ HVM posted

Preliminary results from the 9/13/2015 Solo/autocross event have been posted to the results archive.

Despite a dismal forecast all week, Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day with lot of sunshine once the pavement dried up from overnight and early morning rain. Everyone got 10 runs, and we started packing up before 3:00 PM. Thanks to everyone who came out to drive, and especially those who also volunteered to work with the snow fence, course layout, and other setup activities.

I want to apologize to everyone looking for the live timing results after the last cars ran. I started to pack up the computer equipment out of habit as soon as the course closed, and totally forgot that drivers would still be using the web server to see how they fared. I’ve made a mental note not to disconnect it at our next autocross event in October.

If anyone wishes to share feedback about this new format (or spots any errors), feel free to contact me. Likewise, if you spot any errors, please let me know so that we can investigate further.

6/28/2015 Solo points event #2 results @ HVM posted

Preliminary results from the 6/28/2015 Solo/autocross event have been posted to the results archive.

Although the weather was not entirely cooperative all day, everyone who came out seemed to be having fun trying to master driving fast in the rain. It was also our first event running with our new timing & scoring computer system, and I saw several drivers walking around staring at their smartphone screens viewing the class results as cars ran once word started to spread about the new feature.

Lake Taghkanic 10/26/2014 Solo results posted

Here are the results from Solo Points Event #4 at Lake Taghkanic on 10/26/2014: Final Results, PAX times, Raw times.

Although the cloudy day and passing afternoon shower didn’t provide the best lighting to appreciate the peak fall foliage this year, 50 drivers received 8 runs on a somewhat technical course designed by Mark VanDeCarr. Kudos go out to Paul Vinas, who scored the hat trick (won class, fastest PAX, and FTD), and took home our VIP guest driver (cardboard) Danica Patrick along with the other three trophies.

As event chairs, Jennifer and I would like to thank the NYR-SCCA crew for making the road trip up north to support PSCC, Dean VanDeCarr, Joe Pavan, et. al. for their usual through job at tech, Jarvis and crew for the equipment setup/teardown, Tom Murphy for all of the pre-event arrangements, Mark for another great course, Jennifer for collecting a truckload of door prizes, working registration, waiver, and everything else that she does behind the scenes both before and after each event, Chip and Beth for the donuts and apple cider, Greg VanDeCarr, Todd Robinson, and Mark Long for somehow keeping me away from the computer most of the day, and plenty of other people that I’m forgetting off the top of my head. It is such a pleasure to chair an event with such a great group of volunteers ready to step forward and get things done.

Let me throw in a reminder since I forgot to mention it at the drivers meeting that the 50th Annual Tri-State Championship is taking place on the big lot at Stratford on 11/2. The New York team *really* needs drivers to show up, so please make the trip out to FCSCC’s autocross season finale if you are available.

PSCC’s last competition event of the season is the Rallycross on 11/9. Following that, we have our holiday party in December and the annual PANIC awards banquet in late January. See the calendar above for details.

10/12/2014 Rallycross #3 results posted

We could not have asked for a better fall day to be out at the farm for our second Rallycross event of the season. Perfect weather, plenty of fall foliage color, temperatures in the 60’s and lots of sun. Mark VanDeCarr and the Rallycross crew set up an awesome fast/safe course that made full use of the available fields, which were 100% dry and usable. Run times were between 90-120 seconds, and only a few minor tweaks needed to be made to the course during the lunch break.

Thank you to Mark and Mark for putting together another good event, Steve, Jarvis, and the rest of the setup crew for making it happen, Chip for bringing out the refreshing apple cider and apple donuts, and of course Jennifer for working registration and waiver all day. If anyone didn’t notice, this was the first event for PSCC’s brand new wireless timing system, and it worked pretty reliably all day once we worked out a little glitch during the first heat.

Here’s the final results:

Reminder that we still have another Rallycross scheduled for 11/9 and of course our Solo finale at Lake Taghkanic on 10/26, so don’t put your cars away for the winter yet…..

7/20/2014 Rallycross Canceled

After several days of pouring rain that left standing water in the fields that we were scheduled to use on Sunday, it was determined that the fields would not dry out in time for our Sunday event so we are canceling it. Stay tuned for an announcement for a replacement date.
